This is Seadog, a Beanie Baby for the year 2002. Seadog's birthday is July 22, 2001. The poem reads: I love to feel the ocean breeze, when I sail on the open seas, a sailor's life is right for me, there's no place that I'd rather be."

While Ty does not indicate what breed of dog Seadog is, he looks very much like a Chesapeake Bay Retriever. This dog loves the water. Seadog is a light chestnut color, which is one of the colors these retrievers can come in, including reds and hay colors. These retrievers are about 25 inches high and weigh around 70 pounds.

These lively, happy dogs are very courageous and affectionate. The hair is short but thick. The eyes are yellow.

The history of this dog is interesting. A ship from England was wrecked off the coast of Maryland. There were two Newfoundlands on board. These dogs found a family in the area and were bred to local retrievers. The new breed was used in the area as a hunting dog in the Chesapeake Bay.
