This breed was developed by Parson Jack Russell, an English clergyman who not only loved dogs but did a wonderful job of developing this lovable breed.
This is a small dog, about 9 inches high and weighing only 10 pounds. There are two varieties, a smooth and wirehaired. They are usually white with red markings on the head and body.
They have not been recognized by the American Kennel Club and I understand do not want to belong to that club.
These happy little dogs are courageous and devoted. They are good with children. They were originally used to hunt small game and were small enough to burrow into the lairs of the animals they were chasing.
