Where can you find Great Dane plush toys and stuffed animals.
These Great Dane stuffed animals are named Brute and Sven and were made by Douglas Cuddle Toys. These plush toy dogs have been retired.
Great Danes are known for their size; they are huge! But despite their large size (32 inches at the shoulder), they are gentle. They have a sweet disposition and are generally kind and dignified. They need exercise, so a small apartment is not for them and they like people, so make sure they do not spend lots of time alone. While they are good with children, they need to be trained while young to prevent them from being unmanageable when fully grown.
Great Danes weigh on average about 150 pounds. Males are heavier and can reach 200 pounds. They can have a variety of colors from black to fawn, and the spotted harlequin. The coat is short-haired so is easy to groom. Keep the nails trimmed.
Danes are not barkers, but they make good watchdogs. They have a variety of health issues, one of the most common is hip dysplasia. They are not long-lived breeds. Average lifespan is about 10 years.
Great Danes are descended from a large mastiff-like dog that appeared in the first century traveling with a warlike Asiatic people called the Alans. Later, probably in Germany, this large dog was bred with the Irish Greyhound and the resulting breed became the Great Dane. They have nothing to do with Denmark, despite the name.
