Where can you find Doberman Pinscher plush toys and stuffed animals?
These little black and tan Doberman pinschers are from Bearington and Demdaco. The Bearington Doberman is named Thor. Check the Jeannie's Cottage Gift Shop to see if these Dobermans are there.
Once upon a time almost all the plush manufacturers produced plush Dobermans but these days we can't find many who do.
The Doberman pinscher has an interesting history. It seems they are named after a man who bred them for a guard dog around 1890. His name was Karl Friedrich Louis Dobermann and he was a tax collector from Germany. No wonder he needed a guard dog.
The Doberman is a mixture of many dogs: Great Danes, Rottweilers, German Shepherds and pinschers. Mr. Dobermann traveled a great deal in dangerous areas and wanted a dog who could handle any situation.
The Doberman is about 27 inches high and weighs around 70 pounds. To this day the Doberman is an excellent watchdog and guard dog. They are intelligent and athletic. Coloration is generally black and tan. The hair is short. Their lifespan is generally about 10 to 11 years.
