The Black-throated Blue Warbler (Dendroica caerulescens) is about 5 inches long and has blue upperparts and white underparts and a conspicuous white wing patch. Its throat and sides are black. Females are buff and brown above.

Its habitat is deciduous forests and mixed woodlands. You'll find it foraging in the undergrowth looking for insects. Generally found in southeastern Canada and northeastern US. This little bird is a Neotropical migrant and likes to spend its winters in the Caribbean; some will winter in Florida.

The nest is built in a tree in an open cup. The clutch size is from 3 to 5 eggs. The incubation period is from 12 to 13 days. It takes about two weeks for the young to fledge.
