You've been buying those cute Wild Republic Audubon Birds and have enjoyed their songs, but now your little bird doesn't sing any more. If you are handy with a needle and thread, you can fix your bird.
Each Audubon Bird is equipped with a little plastic voice box inside. Inside each box are three little watch batteries or button cell batteries. They are designated L1154. They were Maxell LR44 1.5v Alkaline Batteries.
You can open a seam in the breast of your bird. Begin at the tush tag where you can see the stitching.
Pull the pouch out of the bird. The cloth pouch is attached inside the bird on one side, so it won't pull out of the bird completely.Open one side of the cloth pouch (it is stitched all around the edge, open the stitching on one side with your scissors) and remove the plastic voice box.
Now you can see the three little watch batteries inside. Remove them and replace them with the ones you bought. Make sure they all face the same way and are positioned like the old ones. The flat side of the battery faces the little spring. Once the batteries are in, you can squeeze the box and it should sing.
If the bird still does not sing, the problem may be with the wiring. If you have been tossing your bird around or letting your dog play with it, don't expect it to last long. Fixing the wiring is something a soldering guru might be able to fix, but that is another story for another day.
If replacing the batteries works, just replace the little plastic door and screw. Now you are ready to replace the box in your bird.
Put the box back in the cloth pouch, stitch the cloth pouch closed and return it to the bird's breast. Stitch the opening in the bird closed with needle and thread and your bird will be as good as new.
